CIFOR building capacity of forest information services in Asia

At the recent CGIAR information managers meeting in Syria, several institutes reported on their collaboration with national and regional partners. The Center for International Forestry Research - CIFOR - recently volunteered to assist the spread of the Global Forest Information Service (GFIS) in Asia.

A recent article in CIFOR News Online explains how CIFOR is supporting GFIS Asia by building a network of forestry institutions, strengthening IT infrastructure and enhancing GIS capacity building by twenty percent.

Note: The Global Forest Information Service - GFIS is an initiative of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests. It provides access to various types of information resources through partnerships with information providers. It is hosted by the International Union of Forest Research Organizations.
