Information intermediaries help to reach farmers in Ghana

One of the challenges facing national agricultural information systems is to 'reach' remote communities with their products. A story by John Yarney on the iConnect Online web site illustrates how the Ghana Agricultural Information Network System (GAINS) works through local 'infomediaries' to disseminate research findings to farmers. Yarney's main conclusion is that national agricultural information and research services need to work with local intermediaries in order to become more responsive to local information needs and understand how to package their findings in a way that is more immediately relevant to farmers.
